Five Bright Birdsongs

Five bright birdsongs
hop and pop on the lawn
waking the neighborhood with music.

Silent tail swishes
in the underbrush,
yellow eyes,
a dash, a pounce.

Last one in the air
becomes a mouthful
of feathers and hush.
